Three weeks ago, together with Pierre LASJAUNIAS, we worked on a new draft for the next ABC-WIN meeting.
Enclosed, you will find the letter we wrote to explain this new structure.
Unfortunately, as you know, Pierre LASJAUNIAS passed away at the beginning of July. It is a terrible
loss for all his friends and the Neuroradiology community all over the world.
In spite of our sadness, it is very important that we continue in the same spirit. The next ABC-WIN
meeting will be organised according to what was decided with Pierre some weeks ago.
I hope that all the friends of Pierre will be able to join us in Val d’Isère to continue his work.

Since 1980, the annual ABC-WIN Meeting, is for most Neuro-Interventionalists a major worldwide event in the field of Interventional Neuroradiology. However, all structures sould be improved. According to the comments and suggestions we received during the past months, we decided to modify the general programme as follows:

- The first day (Sunday) will be dedicated to what we call the “Topic of the Year”. In 2009, this will be “Dissecting diseases and subarachnoïd cisterns”, and will be discussed in a true multidisciplinary context.
- The following four days (Monday – Tuesday – Wednesday - Thursday) will be dedicated to “WIN discussions” as they were 25 years ago. The subjects are open, however, we ask speakers to limit their presentation to 10 minutes, allowing more time for open discussion. We wish to avoid the repeated series of cases often presented in other meetings and focus more on presentations of difficult cases, complications or original researches.
- The last day (Friday) will be called “Raising concerns”, for which we will call for presentations on medico legal problems, ethics as well as management, training…

We hope that this new formula will allow everybody to speak with complete freedom, a very important point for the development of our speciality.
Hoping to welcome you in Val d’Isère, from January 11th to 16th 2009.
